By using SpeakEazy, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

- Personalized Learning: To track your progress across different English levels, adapt conversations to your skill level, provide memory-aware AI tutoring, and maintain learning streaks.
- Subscription Management: To manage your Free/Pro membership status, process plan upgrades, activate free trials, and handle redemption keys.
- Improving the Platform: To analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, enhance AI models, and develop new lesson content.
- Voice Practice Features: To enable pronunciation practice, speech-to-text transcription, and AI voice responses.
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries via email or WhatsApp and resolve technical issues.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent fraud or abuse.
🔐 3. How We Store Your Data
We take data storage seriously and implement reasonable security measures:
- Storage Location: Your data is stored on secure cloud servers located in data centers with industry-standard physical and digital security.
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL. Passwords are hashed and salted via Firebase Authentication.
- Local Storage: Some data (user_id, user_name, learning streak, memory summaries) is stored locally in your browser to enhance performance.
- Retention Period: We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
- Voice Data: Voice recordings are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored after processing.
- Backups: Regular encrypted backups are maintained to prevent data loss.

To process subscription payments and plan upgrades, SpeakEazy uses:
- Razorpay - Primary payment gateway for Indian users (UPI, cards, net banking)
- Zwitch - Additional payment processing partner
What we store: Transaction reference IDs, subscription status, plan type, expiry dates, and trial activation information.
What we DO NOT store: Full credit/debit card numbers, bank account details, CVV, or any sensitive payment credentials. All payment information is handled directly by Razorpay and Zwitch on their PCI-DSS compliant platforms.

🔑 5. Google Sign-In & Firebase Authentication
SpeakEazy offers Google Sign-In as an authentication option via Firebase Authentication.
When you sign in with Google:
- We receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier (UID) from Google
- This information is used only to create and manage your SpeakEazy account
- We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, Drive, or any other Google services
- Your Google password is never shared with us — authentication is handled securely by Google
You can revoke SpeakEazy's access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account security settings.
🤝 6. Third-Party Services We Use
SpeakEazy relies on trusted third-party services to deliver our features:
- Firebase Authentication (Google): User sign-up, login, email verification, and session handling.
- Razorpay & Zwitch: Payment processing for subscription plans.
- Hosting Infrastructure: Our FastAPI backend and database on secure cloud VPS.
- AI Services: For conversational AI tutoring and pronunciation feedback.
- WhatsApp Business: For customer support (optional channel).
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.
🔁 7. Do We Share Your Data?
We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties. We share your information only in these limited scenarios:
- With your consent: When you explicitly allow us to share data for specific purposes.
- Service providers: As described above (Firebase, Razorpay, Zwitch, hosting, AI APIs).
- Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request.

🎤 8. Voice Interactions for Learning
SpeakEazy includes voice-based English learning features to help with pronunciation and conversational practice.
How voice features work:
- When you use the microphone button (🎤), your speech is captured and sent for speech recognition
- Voice input is transcribed into text to generate AI responses
- You may also enable "Auto-Voice" mode, where the AI reads responses aloud
Voice data storage:
- Voice recordings are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers
- Transcripts generated from your voice may be saved as part of your chat history (as text only)
- You can delete your chat history at any time using the delete button (🗑) in the lesson interface
Optional feature: You may use SpeakEazy entirely in text-only mode by disabling the microphone and auto-voice features. This does not affect your ability to learn.
👶 9. Children's Privacy & Parental Supervision
SpeakEazy offers English learning content suitable for school-level students.
Parental supervision is strongly recommended for users under 18 years of age. Parents should:
- Monitor their child's usage of the app
- Discuss safe online communication practices
- Review chat history with the AI tutor periodically
Our approach:
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
- If we discover we have collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly
- The AI tutor is programmed to maintain appropriate, educational conversations
- We do not serve targeted advertisements to any users, regardless of age
Parental requests: Parents may contact us at support@speakeazy.fun to review or delete their child's data.

Depending on your location (GDPR for Europe, CCPA for California, India's IT Rules), you may have the following rights:

You have the right to delete your SpeakEazy account and associated personal data.
How to request account deletion:
- Email request: Send an email to support@speakeazy.fun with "ACCOUNT DELETION REQUEST" in the subject line
- Include in your email: Your registered email address and full name (for verification)
Deletion timeline:
- We will process deletion requests within 30 days of verification
- You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete
What gets deleted:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- All chat history, lesson progress, and learning streaks
- Memory summaries and conversation transcripts
- Subscription status and payment transaction references
What may be retained (legal compliance):
- Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (no personal identifiers)
- Transaction records for tax/audit purposes (retained as required by Indian law)
- Records of deletion request for fraud prevention
Important: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You will lose all your learning progress. If you wish to take a break, consider simply logging out instead of deleting.
